No "Save password" box in network login prompt

I have a Windows 2000 SP4 system (latest updates installed) at work that is used to connect to various network drives. However, I have to type in the login/pass whenever I want to connect because there is no "save password" box.

On my WinXP system, I do get the option to save the info. I don't have to type in the info ever again after I save it. How do I enable this in Win2k or manage the passwords?

I want to be able to connect to my network drives (\\test etc.) without having to keep retyping the information. I know how to manage the passwords in XP, but have no clue in 2k. I have tried googling/going through tech sites to find the answer to this, but all I see is the manage passwords in WinXP which I already know. I don't see any similar feature on the Win2k user accounts area.

Is there any specific group/user policy setting? Or do I have to use 3rd party programs? Any registry settings that might enable it?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Tom9984

I tried mapping the network drives and checked reconnect on logon. On startup after a restart, it will prompt for the password. I'm guessing the account isn't set up correctly to connect to the domain. I tried changing the network ID and account info but wasn't able to connect (not sure if using right names).

I was trying to see if I could fix this myself, but I guess not. I will just call the IT dept then. Thanks.
