Problem reading D: drive with W2K

I have reloaded Win2K and all worked OK initially. Then if system started with disk in A or D drive it would read ok but if disk removed and reinserted it gave no disk present message. Can anyone help.

What disc would fit in both the A drive and the D drive? I thought the A drive and B drive were for old-fashioned floppies, and the D:drive typically for a CD.

You might be clicking on the wrong drive. If you have a CD or a floppy inserted in one drive but click on a different drive, naturally you would get a "No disk present" warning.

A: drive is Floppy and D: drive is CD and if I start computer with a floppy and/or CD in their respective drives I can read either but remove and then replace either or both and then I cant read them, have checked using W2K DOS and still shows nothing present with disks in situ:.
