Hostname

hi everybody,

I want to know where windows 2000 stores its hostname(in which file we can view this information)

Is there anyway to recover the hostname , if I reinstalled windows 2000 in a different folder without formatting the previous windows installation folder.

Is there any free tool available for this in the internet?

any suggestions will greatly be appreciated.

try a search for it i think it is called sam

The computer name is in the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName
