explorer.exe constantly crashing

Hi folks,

My explorer.exe is constantly crashing (I guess you figured that already by the title!!)

When I double click on Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, My Documents, My Computer, quite often I get a message that there was an error with explorer.exe and it needs to shut down.

It's getting to be quite the pain in the butt!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

First, if you haven't been to Windows Update: do so. 2000 can be flaky without the fixes and your explorer crash is symptomatic of the RPC vulnerability. The usual spyware/ virus scans are recommended. Spybot Search And Destroy and Ad-Aware SE should be in everyones toolbox. If none of this works I would back up my data, bite the bullet and reinstall.
