Having a DNS problem and cannot surf

Hi,

I've been looking for a solution to my DNS problem but I haven't been able to fix it and I was wondering if anyone could point me in a right direction.

My PC is running on W2K sp4 and I can ping IP address and I can surf using either IE or firefox by just entering IP address. That means I have internet connection but somehow DNS is not resolved. I tried the following but did not fix the problem.

netsh <enter>
Interface reset all
routing reset all
routing
dump
bye
exit

I have entered the opensource DNS address manually in the LAN connection properties and my ISP support checked settings on browsers and everything seems to be as it should be.

I am posting this using my laptop which is also connected to my netgear router so it just my PC which doesn't seem to be able to resolve DNS. I run virus and malware check and nothing came up. What can I do to fix this problem?
