Today I tried to download an update for Nero Ultra 6 that a friend installed on my computer. Apparently Nero didnt like that because they installed it as a demo, and then my computer went crazy. All of a sudden when I rebooted, my Zone Labs Firewall didnt start, my Norton Auto Protect was disabled (and still wont enable), my taskbar was all screwed up, and everything was locking up. I finally rebooted into safe mode and deleted Nero the best way I know how (Setting->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) and a windows file search. Windows is mostly back to normal from what I can tell, except that problem with Norton. Is there anything else I need to do?

Hi,
Two things to tell you. Don't have any friends put unlicensed copies on your computer. The second thing I would tell you is that you might be wise to go back to an earlier restore point before it was put on your computer. That should get rid of it and restore your Norton to that point. |

Hi,
Somehow, I thought you were talking WinXP. I don't use that system, but think it probably has that feature although not sure. Go to the help and support area and put in Restore Point and it will tell you with that OS if you can how to do it. If it is like Windows XP, the restore point area is also in that inital help section. Maybe someone from OS who runs that OS can tell you if you can and if so, how to find it. The closest thing Windows 2000 pro has to system restore is "Last known good configuration". If you wanna try it just reboot then press F8 when the prompt appears, select last known good configuration and press enter. But I personally would try doing a repair install of norton, or maybe even uninstall and re-install.

Hi Leroy77,
Thanks for the info on that Operating System. Just can't know everything about all of them. Hope he gives that a try and see what happens. Thanks again and I will try to remember that and probably will (and, if you believe that????) Enough said. |

"Just can't know everything about all of them"
Truer words were never spoken. I've been in more than one situation where: "It's not what you know, but what you can find out and how fast you can do it".
