Folder settings not remembered

Recently had to reinstall Win1Kpro(no fun). Works fine now but not all of the folder settings are "remembered". I went through the settings and checked "remember folder settings". The folder settings (detail preferred) work fine but when I try to "save as" the dialog box does not give me the "detail" but only the list. Small thing but I want to get things back to normal.
Thanks much.

Re: Folder settings not remembered

remember folder settings refers to individual folders (if you set a folder different from the others, it'll remember it).
if you want all the folders to be the same, set it the way you want, then click tools, folder options, view tab, then click "like current folder". In Windows XP it's called "apply to all folders"

Re: Folder settings not remembered

As far as I know, you need 3rd party software to change the default view in the Open/Save dialogs, unless the program uses it's own dialogs and lets you save the settings.
I've seen numerous posts on the web claiming you can set the view, then click CTRL+Cancel to save it, but I've never gotten it to work.

Here's a few apps that do this, but I've not tried any of them:
FileOpenPatcher
OpenWide
File-Ex (Not Free)
