Re: Fujitsu lifebook E350 HElP

What does the title of the window say, can't read it in the picture.
What other faults do you have?
Can you run the Task Manager?
  • Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, does the Task Manager start?
  • If you right click the Taskbar and click Task Manager, does it start?
  • If you double click C:\Winnt\System32\taskmgr.exe, does the Task Manager run?
Can you run Regedit?
Can you open a Command Prompt?

If you don't have the Win2K CD, you're options are a bit limited. The i386 folder might have been copied to the hard drive though, so check for that. Usually C:\i386, but could be anywhere. Try searching for winnt32.exe. It will have around 4000 files.

You should run a system info tool to get the Windows Product key (if it's not printed on a label somewhere), and get info on the hardware. If you have the Product Key, and know someone with a Win2K disk, you can borrow a WIn2K disk to make repairs. A Repair shop might be willing to burn a copy for you.
Otherwise, you'd need to purchase a copy, though it shouldn't be too hard to find a version of Linux that will run well on the system.

I can't read the title, so all I can see is a Command Prompt window opened. The text in the Title bar may be meaningless, but I can't tell.
And by other faults I mean what else isn't working, or what else generates an error?
And can you answer the questions? Need to know if you can run Task Manager by any of the the three methods listed, and if you can run regedit (Start | Run, type regedit, press Enter) and open a Command Prompt (Start | Run, type cmd, press Enter):

An older version of Linux should run well, but it's not Windows. Meaning Windows programs won't run on it, but there are many Linux programs that do the same tasks.
You can try a few out without even installing them, they will run directly from a CD.
Puppy Linux should run quite well on a Pentium II system, a Live CD version can be downloaded here
