[SOLVED] Wireless and Windows 2000 Pro

I am attempting to set up a wireless connection on a Windows 2000 Pro machine. I am using a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHzPCI adapter.

I have a wired internet connection and email connection setup that work on that PC. Internet connection is thru AT&T 2wire Modem.

I currently have my PC and one laptop (both XP Pro SP3)that use the same connection. Laptop is wireless, PC can be wireless or wired. Both work - no issues.

I probably will install XP on the 2000 Pro station but - I would like to make it work now.... The Linksys setup is recognized, it indicates is it connected - but does not have a connection to the internet. I am guessing there is some windows component I don't have? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Wireless and Windows 2000 Pro - SOLVED

I wish I could give exact steps I took to get it to work - but frankly after spending about 9 hours playing around with many areas I am not exactly sure what the combination was that was successful.

In the Linksys profile I did put in wireless information. I find I had input an incorrect number as the last number in a field in the properties of the wireless adapter in Wireless Network Connections. I also saw on a post to only have 2 items in the Wireless Network Connections properties - Client for MS Networks and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) - if anything else was there to delete it. Those were the last two things I did (correct the number and delete items) - and that is when it started to work.

I will be upgrading this machine to XP in the next few weeks - so it doesn't really matter that I got it work in Windows 2000 Pro....put at this point it was the challange of making it work!
