[SOLVED] Win 2000 Pro Missing dll?
Hello and thanks for reading.
I get this error message when I try to to start a utility in my fresh Win 2K SP4 install; The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL. Is it possible to fix this? Thank you for your time and assistance. P.S. Its a utility for controlling the clock speeds of my video card... ATI Tool |

Re: Win 2000 Pro Missing dll?
check the system requirements for the utility. i suspect it might be intended for Windows XP or later.
I usually get that kind of message (procedure entry point, function name, dll name) when running a program intended for Windows 2000 or later on Windows 98, or a program intended for Windows XP on Windows 2000. Different versions of Windows have different versions of various DLL's, and the addresses (? locations?) of functions inside them can be different. |

Quote:
I copy-pasted this from the download page at TechPowerUp; ATITool will only work on Windows 2000/XP/2003 (64 bit versions are supported). http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/ It appears to be supported in Win 2K which has me puzzled. Also I use it in my XP Pro install so I know its compatable with my card. |

Re: Win 2000 Pro Missing dll?
I just tried it (I'm on 2000 with a FireGL X1 (Radeon 9700 family)), and I got the same error message. One last guess is I don't have .net 2.0 sp2, which is the only update I didn't install (the system's all patched up otherwise). I'll try it with XP tomorrow.

Re: Win 2000 Pro Missing dll?
Bingo!
Someone suggested another utility that has rendered this problem moot. ATI Tray Tools to the rescue. My thanks to any and all who read this thread and tried to help. Thanks again to you blah789

Re: [SOLVED] Win 2000 Pro Missing dll?
I totally forgot about this, but I just tested this today on Windows XP (identical hardware BTW, just different hard drive), and it seems to work (no error message).
Methinks it's compatible with XP and up (maybe report it to developer?) |
