[SOLVED] OS noobie question

I'm really new to older operative systems. But I wonder what is the main difference between window millenium and windows 2000 PRO? What would be considered the better one? At least more efficient...

OS: Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP SP3

Re: OS noobie question

Windows Millenium Edition was a continuation of the Windows 95 / Windows 98 line, which are hybrid 16-bit/32-bit OSes. The "hybridness" of the system made it particularly unstable and prone to crashes.
Windows 2000 was built on Windows NT 4, which was part of Microsoft's line of pure 32-bit OSes. Those were very robust and stable. Think of Windows 2000 as Windows XP minus the eye candy (and a few rough edges - some may call the interface spartan, but I see it as minimalist).

Re: OS noobie question

Just wanted to say that I had windows ME on my old PC. There where a couple of things I couldn't install but now that I installed windows 2000 Pro
alot of things got solved. Wanted to make the OS upgrade because of my main computer stopped working so I had to use my old computer.
But windows 2000 pro really is much better thanks again.
