format instead of open

My 2000 pro sp4 floppydiskdriver wan't open my floppys but wants to format them instead Is there somebody out there wo can help?

Format them, they have corrupt files on them.

Re-do the transfeering, use a cd if possible.

thanks for your answer,but i have been using them before on this system and had up till now no other problems with this puter because it is linked to a router with firewall and avast and super antispyware installed. what else could be the problem ?
