Dynamic link library MSVCR80.dll not found.

Hello. Thanks in advance for any advice/information you can give.

I recently acquired a virus and decided to reformat my pc. I totally deleted the partition and created a new one. I then formatted the drive and installed windows 2000.

The problem is, I attempt to install Yahoo messenger and get the error message "The dynamic link library MSVCR80.dll could not be found in the specified path
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger;.;C:\WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT\system;C:\WINNT;C:\....ETC, ETC, ETC........

I guess I will have to find the file needed on my Windows installation disk and put it where it needs to be? I am hoping to find an easier way.

I guess what has me perplexed is that I have never received this message before.

I attempted to install another software app and received a similar error message. I was able to install WinAmp without issue though.

At first I thought, do I still have a virus even though I have reformatted my pc? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Dynamic link library MSVCR80.dll not found.

You might need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 runtime:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
That's the x86 version, so if you need another version (x64 or IA-64) search for it.

Re: Dynamic link library MSVCR80.dll not found.

I fixed the problem. I went to www.down-dll.com, downloaded the files I needed and placed them in C:\WINNT\system32. The files were not on my Win2000 CD.

Thanks for your support.
