W2k setup disc inc updates
Tried XP. Dont like it. Also tired of going back to Windows Update and installing all those updates for W2k.
How does one make a W2k setup disc that includes all the updates? I have understood so far that the file I386\winnt must be run in DOS in order to install W2k from a cd. I saw a step by step guide somewhere and thot I bookmarked it but must have hit the wrong key and cant find it again. I cant be the only one wanting to do this or the first to think of it. |

Re: W2k setup disc inc updates
If you don't want to install any more updates, just turn of the automatic updater. Go into your services, goto Windows Automatic Updates, right click on the service, then choose disable.

Re: W2k setup disc inc updates
You can slipstream them into a new CD Image. Still have to track them down and downnload them, but once the disk is created, it's done.
Nlite and AutoStreamer can both do the job. nLite is a bit more flexible. These guides refer to Windows XP, but the process is the same for Win2K This guide walks you though Using Autostreamer to slipstream a Service Pack. Though it refers to XP, the AutoStreamer program works with Win2K (adding SP3/SP4 to any version) and Win2K3. Also works with adding SP3 to XP. THis one uses nLite Install Windows XP on SATA without a Floppy (F6) How to obtain the latest Windows 2000 service pack If you slipstream SP4, and Update Rollup 1, that will include all Security updates through April 30, 2005. You can then search the Microsoft Update Catalog for more. You can also add IE 6 and it's updates. If you do some searching there should be lots of info out there. HTH Jerry |
