EEK! Kinda stupid question....

I have a Toshiba Satellite 17in laptop with Vista Home 32bit on it. I hate Vista, it bothers me so much : /. I was going to try and put XP Pro or XP Home Ed. onto it. Do i need a special version of Pro or Home for a laptop or can i just install the one for Desktops?

Thanks
Kroma

Re: Kinda stupid question....

There is no special edition of windows for laptops or desktops. You should be able to pick up a copy of xp and put it on there. The only trouble you might run into is missing drivers after you install windows xp. But you should be able to get those from the laptop manufacturers website.

Re: Kinda stupid question....

I believe a full version of either one will do. What you actually need are the drivers for XP. Toshiba website may not have the device drivers for XP... so you have to make sure you hunt them down before you even start the conversion from Vista to XP.

Also expect that you may lose some functions of the laptop (i.e. buttons, utilities, etc.), as they may NOT work in XP due to incompatibility.
