windows will not start up properly
Hi!
I did a resize of my partition and now windows 2000 will not logon properly. the logon window is shown(auto logon) and after that it says that the pagefile is missing and how to correct that when I get in. I press OK But I never any further. The logon melody plays but nothing happens on the screen. After a minute it starts log off and then it logs on again. It is going in a logon circle. Why? I have linux so I can get in contact with the computer, but there are no other way to get into it since ther are no cdrom drive or floppy drive. So can I do something via linux or is windows lost for good? |

Re: windows will not start up properly
Have you tried safe mode? other wise try holding the Shift key to bypass the login sequence and enter a username and password. log in as some other user and see what happens from there.

Re: windows will not start up properly
Start holding it down when you see a color background and keep holding it until you see a login prompt.

Re: windows will not start up properly
Sorry I have been gone for a while. See if the guest account is enabled. Guest and no password. also just try and shut it down from there properly and see if that helps. Also is your PC on a Network?

Re: windows will not start up properly
Sorry to hear it. Just by chance did you try and resize it back and see if that would fix it. I was thinking that maybe if you over rode the let windows manage your virtual memory to a specific size and after you resized you didn't have enough disk space to allocate for it and that might have caused it as well.

Re: windows will not start up properly
What utility did you use to resize the partition? I've resized many partitions and never had that issue, so I'd be curious.
