I am totally new to win2k pro. When I downloaded ie6 and nvidia display drivers a windows update icon appeared in the taskbar. What does this mean? Is windows update downloading updates automatically? Or does the icon represent the current download?
And another thing, How do I disable startup programs?Ive had a look in system config utility and there doesn't seem to be a startup programs option there. Where is scandisk????? Last edited by mexican(Aus); 10-27-2002 at 04:31 AM. |

When that little icon pops up in the task bar you should click on it and a box will open you can chage the option to download updates manually.
W2K does not have msconfig installed as far as I know. But if you do a search on Google I know there are programs that will do this for you.........................:D |

I killed off the update service on my W2K machines. As far as startup managers, try X-Setup from X-Setup This site seems to be down right now, but a search will turn up lots of other places to download it. FWIW, it's also free. :)
Update: It appears that their site has returned from the dead! :D:D Last edited by johnwill; 10-30-2002 at 07:18 AM. |
