Trouble with Draggin/Dropping and Re-Naming
I am having a problem with dragging files in the same folder to other folders. I can click on a file and go up to Edit > Move To Folder - but that's it. I also have a hard time re-nameing files. I right click and it's about 2 minutes before the dialog box opens where I can select "Rename". Any ideas?

Re: Trouble with Draggin/Dropping and Re-Naming
If it takes up a lot of time to open something then it's a windows problem, too many programs working, hard drive almost full etc, if you want to rename a file why not try to click once on the file then after 2 seconds click again, so not a double click, just 2 more distant clicks, the you should be able to edit the name the same way as you edit it with the right click

Re: Trouble with Draggin/Dropping and Re-Naming
Your post interests me, because I used to have the same problem at one point (the drag and drop one). That was my mouse losing focus and I couldn't switch to another window (had to press alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del to switch windows). Then all drag and drop operations would die. I resolved it by clicking the scroll button once.
Don't know if it would help you, but if it does work, please let me know if you're using multiple mice (I have both a PS/2 with scroll button and a serial one which I use more because it's more comfortable). Quickest way to rename IMHO is click file icon and press F2 (works in XP, dunno if it was introduced in 2000 yet). |
