recovery from viruses, trojans and worms
My husband and I have a desktop and laptop that became infected with any and probably all of the above. There still seems to be small pieces left on the drive that we cannot get access to. We have flashed the bios, fdisked and formatted numerous times and we still are having issues when trying to reload the os's. Is there any utility that we can use that will get to the bottom of this to see the section we can't get rid of. It has it's own commands when I key in /? other than dos commands. The ones I see are not complete either, I can't do some commands that I would usually have access to. Pls help

Hi, and welcome to TSF!
I am going to move this thread over to the W2K forum, as I think they can help you get reloaded over there better than we will, here. Once they get the diagnostics done, they can always send you back over. Thanks! |

Go to your hard drive mfr website and down load their "zero write" utility. This will write "0" to every sector of your hard drive.
Then reinstall and you'll be fine long as your source is also clean. It's better than "formatting" which doesn't actually overwrite all sectors of the hard drive. |
