Can't copy files over network
Hi. I'm trying to copy files from my Win2K Pro laptop to my WinXP desktop. I've done it hundreds of times before. Now I get an error: "Cannot copy filename: Access is denied. The source file may be in use."
I have Admin rights and the source file is not in use. Same problem in safe mode. Network is through a Netgear RT-314 gateway router, and I don't think the router has anything to do with the problem. Any ideas? |

Well, you may have a virus, or perhaps you need to run CHKDSK to fix any disk structure issues on that disk.

Thanks for the suggestions, but AVG says my computer is free of viruses, and a disk scan doesn't find any problems.
Could it make a difference that the source directory I'm trying to copy from is new? Is there a setting I need to change? |
