windows updates won't install

Thirteen Windows Updates are ready to install since May 14th; they will upload, but will not install. After going through Troubleshooting, I get a message that "something is wrong with your computer that will not allow updates to install'. Yep

1. Start/Run and type in the box
regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
OK

Repeat the above for all of the following dlls

regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s atl.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll
regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
regsvr32 /s msxml.dll
regsvr32 /s msxml3.dll
regsvr32 /s msxml2.dll
regsvr32 /s qmgr.dll
regsvr32 /s qmgrprxy.dll
regsvr32 /s Softpub.dll
regsvr32 /s Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /s Initpki.dll

Enter one at a time, notice the spaces

This has worked for sp2,not sure about sp3.

This tool will help reset all the windows updates....fixing most issues with windows update. The catch however, is that all updates must be installed again.

MBSA is a nice alternative to windows update for those with a little more tact. ;)
