I've got some a icon in my taskbar called WinVNC. When I leave the cursor over it it says "WinVNC - Not Listening." What is this? Is it good or bad? Do I need it?

VNC is used for remote control. It usually doesn't appear on a computer by accident, so ask any others who might use the computer if they put it there (but that's not the only possibility, it could have been bundled with spyware).
If nobody knows how it got there, get rid of it. It could be potentially used to take control of your computer as if the person accessing it were actually on it. |
