Deleting the old file
Hi,
i have installed windows 2000 on my pc which already had windows 2000 installed. i was expecting windows2000 will erase all files from my hard drive but it didn't. what is the best way of getting rid of old files. or i want to format(erase everything completely) my hard drive and install windows2000 but i don't have the graphic card driver, is it possible to down load it from the web or what is the best way of acheving this. thank you regards Thipan Last edited by thipan : 07-09-2008 at 03:07 AM. |

Re: Deleting the old file
I'd do my homework first to see what kind of video card you have and locate the drivers, or if it's a built-in video, then identify the motherboard and see if you can locate the drivers from the motherboard site.

Re: Deleting the old file
If you have say, /WINNT and WINNT.0, you are going to have a hard time deleting the /WINNT folder without another operating system. Live Linux CDs can do this, saving you a complete format and restore.
I have an empty /WINDOWS folder, and a full Windows XP installation in /WINDOWS.0 and when I attempt to unhook and delete /WINDOWS, I get a BSOD! What about every single running program makes it hook the empty /WINDOWS folder?! Anyway, it can be done, but the best way would be to locate your drivers, burn a disc of them, then do a complete restore.
