Inner-case clicking when certain games launched

Hey, I'm Steve, and all greetings possible, I suppose.

Anyway, I recently assembled my new PC, and am entirely happy except for this problem...

When I launch certain games, such as Stepmania, not only does something in my case click, but my speakers as well. Some info to help troubleshoot...

1. It could be coming from the video card. However, the same one (Geforce FX5500) worked fine with my old PC without this problem.
2. CPU info: Overclocked to ~2.2gHz. However, I did reset it to its default underclocked state, and the problem was not resolved.
3. Speakers are clicking as well, so perhaps sound? My sound is onboard and the drivers are SoundMAX.

Also, actions I have taken to no avail:

1. Underclocked CPU.
2. Updated system BIOS.
3. Installed latest sound drivers.
4. Checked for any physical problem.
5. Adware/Viruses: Nothing.

Actions I plan to take but have not yet:
1. Update video drivers.
2. Fresh install of 2kpro (last resort)

If any more info is needed, please tell me. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like some kind of hardware issue. Maybe the vid card's fan spinning up causes interference that you hear through your speakers? I know when I turn my speaker volume all the way up with nothing playing, I can hear the fan on mine causing interference.

The clicking on the speakers is ridiculously clear. And, as I said, this same video card was on my old mobo, so... =/

Hmmmm,

I think the first thing I would do is turn off your speakers, open up the computer case and see if you can isolate the sound. I would suspect it to be some sort of driver problem but I wouldn't rule out something like the hard drive either. For now see if you can nail down the source of that clicking noise inside your case and give us a more detailed list of your hardware.

BTW just to cover all bases, you do have the speakers plugged into the correct sound jacks correct?

Hope this helps.
