explorer.exe spiking to 100%
About a month ago I formatted my HD and reinstalled Win2kpro. Immediately I reinstalled everything essential, meaning all updates and anti-virus/spyware software. I don't know if it was happening before I installed the updates but since the reinstall explorer.exe spikes to 100%.
I've noticed that it really only seems to happen when I'm browsing through explorer itself (i.e. My computer). I could be scrolling through, renaming or even just randomly clicking on files to see the whole name and when I click on the next one I have to wait for about five seconds cause my whole computer is locked up. If i'm not browsing through explorer it doesn't seem to happen. Third party programs or IE doesn't seem to affect it either, just when I'm browsing through explorer. So far I've browsed through the internet and can't find a solution to my specific problem. I've downloaded the process manager program and it just shows explorer spiking and doesn't tell me anything else. I have Bitdefender for and anti-virus/spyware program and found nothing with that. I also have Uniblue system care (no they're not activated at the same time) and that doesn't show anything either. I really don't think it could be spyware or a virus anyway as this was happening before I got back to my serious web surfing habits. I want to say this happened the first time I installed Win2k but that was so long ago I really don't remember. I'd appreciate any help with this, thanks. OS: Window 2000 Professional SP4 |
