NTLDR is missing message at Start

Restarted pc and I received this error message. I have never heard of this. NTLDR is missing message is all I can get, and PC will go no further. Any suggestions? I tried format at msdos prompt but error showed format not supported at C: thanks for any help

I've ran into this before and an easy way to avoid it I found was to get your hard drive mfr drive utility and zero write the hdd then retry your install.

Especially true if you were using a hdd management software of some kind.
