EEK! access denied

My laptop is not accessing a lot of files. For example, the first message it shows is: C':\ProgramFiles\Openoffice.org2.0\program\quickstart.exe'
I can't even get into my media player, when I click on that it tell me that it cannot find WindowsMediaPlayer\wmplayer.exe' , or one of it's components, and says to check and make sure it is in correct path or file names. But when I put a CD in, the media player pops right up. I can't access my boingo wireless connection, I can't even get to help. It won't even let me play solitare. Someone please help me.

Re: access denied

Strange, start Windows in "safe mode" and see if it still does it there.

When you turn on your computer, push F8 F8 F8 F8 F8 F8 F8 F8 F8 F8 F8 F8 untill a menu for Windows startup appears asking you how you want to boot. Choose "safe mode" and it will start Windows in a minimalistic mode which will not load any non-standard drivers and settings.

If it does it in "safe mode" you may need to reinstall Windows. To avoid a reinstall, you COULD create a new user profile and hope that it is only a user registry issue and not a system-wide problem.

First of all, if you check your system drive (usually drive C:) does a folder called "Program Files" exist?
