Win2kpro vs. WinXP??

I am just curious if there are any users left that prefer Windows 2000 over Windows XP. I prefer Win2kpro myself, but I have recently been forced to migrate to XP due a USB device. It is ok, but I miss Win2k. This is more for my curiosity, don't take it too serious

I like how XP is just easier to use.

Can`t believe that 2k doesn`t have msconfig

You know, I had always wondered why they didn't add that lol. I use to add it myself I prefer 2kpro, but I am mainly on XP ATM. I dream of the day I can put my 2000 back on

According to a Microsoft support gal, the MSCONFIG in XP can be located in one of your 2K pro support folders and accessed by the "run" option.

Re: Win2kpro vs. WinXP??

I would love to be running 2000, but it does not support my hard drive when I boot from a setup CD and it does not appear to support MTP for my mp3 player.

Can anyone assist with these problems?

I totally feel for you AF3. I use an external mixing device ( nothing serious, just something for fun ) and of course it was designed to run with XP/Vista only. It uses more of a piece of firmware vs a driver, and 2k just locks up completely. Unfortunately, I have been running XP for sometime now
There is hope - I just got a " newer " notebook, and my mixer + software will work fine on that so I am switching back to 2000 ASAP

Re: Win2kpro vs. WinXP??

Just a quick addition to my post above, XP is ok and I have come to accept it more. But I still love my Win2kpro =)

Oh man, you are so lucky. Maybe I could get away with using Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 on Windows 2000 just for the few functions that I require that just so happen to be XP-only...

Games are so fast on Windows 2000!

I use XP with the visual styles off, so it looks as if I am using 2000. I can't stand the sugar coated UI.

I know exactly what you mean. I hate the candy coating on XP. But XP is far from being better than 2000 ( IMO ). I have heard all the arguments and yadda yadda, but I really do like 2000

Re: Win2kpro vs. WinXP??

It FEELS as if there is a great deal of bloat in XP. I wish Microsoft would sell a stripped down XP before they tie it to a tree and shoot it like they plan to.

Something like this:
