Hello,
I've really made a mess out of what was already screwed up, and could use some help!! A friend's HP desktop had a bad XP installed, I stripped it to necessary components, and tried to fix it. Accidentally, a Windows 2000 Pro was put in, and that didn't help. Ended up not being able to get anything to load or open, so took a Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools disk to get the hard drive re-installed, and I wiped out everything that had been there. Now, tried to install the Win 2000 P, it gets to where it says its opening, but doesn't. Restarting it gives me the message, no OS detected, insert OS set up disk......So, does anyone have any solution or even a suggestion for me?? I actually thought the OS thing would be easy to fix......and my lack of intelligence continues! Hopefully someone wonderfully wise and helpful will rescue me! Thanks!!!!!!!! Re: PC with initial corrupted XP, I made it worse...HELP!!
A clean install of you're W2000 is the best answer.
Set boot to see CD first , HD0 second , boot to you're CD Delete partition , create partition , format NTFS and CD will lead you the rest of the way. Be aware that settings (keyboard, etc)default to USA settings so you need to change them. After loading system install anti-virus then connect to internet ,go to manufacturers websites support/downloads and install suitable drivers. An evenings passtime ;-) Bri. |

Re: PC with initial corrupted XP, I made it worse...HELP!!
If scouse's suggestion doesn't work, try this:
I have gone through quite a few HPs, throw away that old hard disk, get a new one. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SLAVE THE OLD ONE INTO A WORKING SYSTEM!!!!! GET RID OF IT!!!! With your new hard disk, attempt to install your favorite version of windows. |
