Re: repair process w/out ERD

I would try to the inplace repair installation. Normally you can do it by booting from your windows 2000 disk, telling it to install (not selecting repair...yet), then when it scans the drive for previous installations it should find your existing windows 2k installation and will ask if you want to try to repair it, select yes. That will basically restore the OS to a state that it was when initially installed. When you reboot you may get error messages, however, the device drivers and such should still be there and it should at least boot. The next step IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! You need to rerun all of the windows updates you've run to bring the OS to a current state. Most, if not all, the errors "should" disappear once that's done. I've had more than one person panic when they start getting the error messages. You're getting them because the OS is looking for specific versions of files that are no longer there and by running your updates, you'll be putting the correct versions back on. You may have to reload an application or two, but it's much better than a wipe and reinstall.

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANYTHING LIKE THIS!!!!
