Laptop will connect to LAN but not WAN
Hi.
My (Windows 2000 Pro) laptop connects to router/network/internet when linked by RJ45 LAN connection. But when the RJ45/LAN is disabled/disconnected, the laptop will not connect via the Netgear 511 wireless card adaptor. The Netgear screen shows excellent signal strength on the network, but there is no IP address so the laptop will not connect. I have tried auto IP address, and then separately manually setting IP address for the laptop and inputting the gateway IP address, but neither way works. I have checked and rechecked the SSID's encryption key. I have run ipconfig and ipconfig /all, and both show no IP address for either the laptop or the gateway, and I cannot ping the gateway router. Needless to say the router's access screen via my PC does not see the laptop in wireless mode. Any suggestions? ![]() Last edited by yarand : 05-11-2008 at 05:43 AM. |
