Suspect MSBlaster, need help, killed other computer
I'm not sure if this is the right area, so Mods or Admins please do forgive me and move the thread if it's not.
One of my computers just "died" on me (as I say in my very non-techy way), and I searched Google to see what awful bug the symptoms might belong to. The computer's symptoms are, simply, that it constantly restarts. The machine is running Win2000 NT. It will power on and get to the "Windows loading..." screen, but as soon as the little blue loading bars get all the way to the right the computer restarts. Over and over and over. The sites and forum topics Google found for me all reported MSBlaster as being the culprit. Many of the solutions posted are great, except for one small detail: they assume I can still get to my desktop and run antivirus programs. But I can't. I can't even start up in safe mode. If I try to run safe mode, the computer still restarts at the exact same point--when the little bars get all the way to the right, signifying that Windows has finished loading up. Any suggestions on what to do? How can I get the virus off of there if I can't get past the loading screen? Last edited by Ona : 05-07-2008 at 05:14 AM. |
