Hi guys,
We have 14 computers connected to a network storage server in my company. The server is LaCie Edmini and Linux is embedded. Before we purchased 14th machine, the server worked fine. It wasn't super fast, but never gave us any problems, but ever since we added the last machine, it has been very slow. Sometimes it's unbearably slow to open or save files in the server. That doesn't really help we use AutoCAD most times. I've talked to a guy who knows network about our situations, and he said a lot of network storage type of servers can be very slow when many users are connected to them. He suggested me to buy an actual server with Windows Server 2003. Initially, I was thinking about using a regular machine with Windows Xp Pro as a server until I found out that I couldn't use Windows Xp Pro when more than 10 users are connected together. So I'm leaning toward buying a new server with Windows Server 2003. I need a second opinion about buying a server. If you have any opinions or advice, please let me know. Thanks. ![]() |
