BSOD after Windows Updates installed

Windows 2000 Pro computer. Windows automatic update installes while I was using QuickBooks software. Backed up my data to a flash drive and shut down machine. When rebooted, Blue Screen came up immediately following the Win 2000 screen with the following:

STOP: 0x0000007B (0x827A58F0, 0xC0000102,0x00000000, 0x00000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Following this the suggestions were to check for viruses (I have an upto date antivirus program running), Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers (none have been installed), Check hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated (how do I do this), Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and restart computer.

I have tried booting into safe mode but it goes to the blue screen also I have tried to boot to a previously known good configuration, likewise to the blue screen.

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks.

Re: BSOD after Windows Updates installed

Hi mayhaw9999 Welcome to TSF
You may try doing a repair on the OS.
Change your boot sequence in your bios to boot from CD then boot with the 2K disk. and follow the steps for a repair.
I have had similar problems with update when it installed hardware driver updates.

Wink Re: BSOD after Windows Updates installed

Well, I'm not sure just how I fixed it, but by booting from the CD and running CHKDSK things seem to be back to normal. I didn't delete any of the Microsoft updates. Should I?
