PC hangs, have tried eveything (I know )- please help

Hi,
i got this comp about 4 months ago, i cleaned off all dust in the CPU, and all was good, Pc runnig fine

then all of sudden my PC hangs some times without any reason..

No pattern, (ie to see if some app is causing this, but no luck there)

The CPU usage is low.

This what I done so far
clean off all dust in the CPU,
Did chkdsk, NO errors,
Did a soft format of the HD,
then a full format using boot and nuke cd
Reinstall windows 2000 and all other programs
Updated all software
Ran antivirus and spy ware check..
Nothing
got my hijack this log review - nothing there

i also checked the event viewer, no errors
tested memory with memtest86 everything passed

But still the pc hangs for no reason

My pc specs
OS Windows 2000 pro
IntelŪ PentiumŪ 4
Level 1 (L1) data cache 8 KB
Chip set Intel 865G
mem - 1.5 gb
Hard drive dual-channel Serial ATA, supporting one device per channel
Running windows 2000 with all the update till today

Please help

Re: PC hangs, have tried eveything (I know )- please help

Does it restart any time, or just hang and stay there?

Look in the bios and see what the voltages and temperatures say in there and report back. I do suspect this is software rather than hardware related, but this will rule out a couple of things that could cause some of these problems.

Re: PC hangs, have tried eveything (I know )- please help

I forgot, also list your specs including the motherboard, the power supply (make and watts), and your video card.

How long has it been doing this?

Have you tried a system restore to the time before it did this? (that way, if software related, that would take care of that issue)

Have you added any software, hardware recently when it started doing this?

Re: PC hangs, have tried eveything (I know )- please help

Try Speedfan and see if it finds any. Some programs do not find sensors in certain motherboards. Also, look in the Bios setup menu and see if you can see them in there.

Speedfan

Re: PC hangs, have tried eveything (I know )- please help

When looking in the bios, did you look under the power area for Hardware Monitor....most have a section like that....just double check and see what is under that area. This one is a tough so we need every advantage we can get with information.

Re: PC hangs, have tried eveything (I know )- please help

Go the the Drive manufacturer's website (Maxtor/Seagate) and download their utility. That is the best testing utility you can get since it is produced by the manufacturer. Post back with results. Glad your rig is up and running anyhow.
