Windows Updates crashing my computer
Since you guys were so helpful in my last thread, I thought I'd see if you knew what was going on with this.
The last 2 times I've tried to complete a Windows update [from the Microsoft website], my computer semi-crashes. The last time, I had to start in safe mode and remove the hotfixes until the one that was giving me trouble was removed. That one was KB835732. After a few months, I tried to update my Windows again and got the same problem. This time I skipped over the previous hotfix (732) and downloaded everything else (only critical). I got the same problem so I removed again (I forgot to write that one down). Any idea what could be causing this? Do I really need the critical updates of should I just wait until another service pack comes out? Thanks for the help in advance.

Try a repair on your internet explorer first, then do the updates.
To do the repair, Control panel--> add/remove programs, select Microsoft Internet Explorer x.x then select remove, then check the repair option. After rebooting, try again with the updates.

I didn't get that option. The only Internet Explorer listed in my 'Add/Remove Programs' was this: Internet Explorer Q867801 and when I choose it and choose remove, this is what comes up:
This program uninstalls Q867801 and restores previous configuration? Do you wnat to uninstall Q867801? What do I do now? |
