ok here it goes......I have an old hp computer that a friend gave to me but with no recovery cd's. it is an hp and they don't make the cd's anymore. well no big deal. I have a generic copy of windows 2000 pro laying around. now this is a P3 style celeron ( ya I know its old, I'm giving it to my niece. ) so it has win 98se so I reformat to ntfs and load win2k. it installs and when it restarts to finish setup it freezes. so I turn the computer off and tried to do it again, nothing. the computer will not post and a completely black screen. I do not hear the hard drive, and the fan on the cpu is not spinning, but the fan on the video card and the power supply do work and most of the led lights still work. I have tried the removal of the bios battery to no avail. can someone help me out.
