Cant log on to windows 2000

I disjoined the windows 2000 PC from the domain, i put it on workgroup, with the intention of rejoining it back to the domain. It rebooted, after rebooting i could not log on i.e using the local administrator account I get error message and on the logon screen i dont have the logon to PC option, neither do i have the option to log on to the domain, All I have is the login name and password option.( I dont have that drop down option where i can choose to either log on to the domain or local on the PC)

Please somebody help, I am trying to avoid a situation whereby i have to reinstall the OS and everything all over again

Re: Cant log on to windows 2000

If you saved your "System State Data", you can manually restore the registry. The files that need to be restored are Appevent.evt, Default, Default.log, Default.sav, Sam, Sam.log, Secevent.evt, Security, Security.log, Software, Softwrae.log, Software.sav, Sysevent.evt, System, System.alt, System.log, System.sav and Userdiff. These files need to be copied to the "%SystemRoot%\System32\Config" folder. If not, it's a sure fire method of making sure to back up your system. Good luck!
