Win 2000 hangs notebook during install

I have an HP Omnibook 6000, which runs fine on Win 98SE.
I need to use Vodafone to access the internt, but Vodafone software wont install in Win98SE and only works from Win 2000 Pro upwards.
Each time I try and install Win 2000 Pro it hangs the notebook half way through the install. Have tried using another version of Win 2000 Pro but same happens. Can anyone offer a solution.

Re: Win 2000 hangs notebook during install

As I said, it accepts the serial key then starts installing & half way through it just stops. I have tried several times after FDISK & formating. Then Win 2000 formats the drive to NTFS & starts instaling, but gets half way & stops without any error msg"s. I have now left it installing for 3 days & it as finally reached the installation screen ''Performing Final Tasks'. It has run all night and it is only 25% completed on this screen. So I am just going to let it continue & see what happens. The HDD drive light flashes every now & then so it is obviously installing. Wether it runs once compled, we will just have to see?

Re: Win 2000 hangs notebook during install

These systems came with 2000 Pro installed originaly. It should run it just fine once it gets installed.
Once it has finished check the bios and see if there is a place to enable Plug and play OS and enable it.(if it is not)
I used to run 2000 on a pentium 200. (Slow but it ran)
