Question unable to restart after installing Lexmark Z12

I recently installed a Lexmark Z12 printer to my Dell system running windows 2k. It all works fine until I try to restart with the printer attached. All I get is a black screen on restart- no Dell screen, no windows screen, no hard drive noise- nada. I have to disconnect the printer cable, turn off the power to the computer and then restart without the printer attached.

Try updating Windows: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ as a USB update is out for Windows 2000.

What service pack are you running?

Also, there are some USB options in the BIOS that you might be able to change to fix this.

And last of all, the drivers for the printer might be currupt.

Anyway, let me know what service pack your running. You can get this by right clicking on My Computer and selecting properties. It's located down the bottom.
