Compaq laptop screen question

I've got an old compaq presario 1245 that the screen suddenly has verticle lines about 3/16" apart from the bottom to about the middle of the screen.
Can this be fixed or is it more than its worth? Just running a student version of mastercam on it. If ya hook it up to a monitor the lines aren't there. Is there a degause or some thing?

Sounds like the LCD is starting to go -- it's age is showing . Fixing/replacing it would cost more than it's worth since laptop repair is not as simple as a desktop. You can continue to use it attached to a monitor because the computer is still good. Or, if you need a laptop, then spend the money on a new one since there will be deals coming out for the holiday season.

Re: Compaq laptop screen question

Like he said - if its not mobile then hook it up to an external monitor.

I have one of these and it is not worth the cost of any repairs ($15-50) - its that old. Nearly anything you can find on the market today will be an upgrade, even most of the off lease systems.
