Help! Symantec Client Firewall = Hell

A user has got Symantec Client Firewall Version 5.1.1 on his machine.

Niiserve.exe was eating all of his cpu so I uninstalled it by disabling the services then uninstalling it.

Now, after the reinstall, I can't log into the network. I can only log into the workstation only.

AND, I'm getting an error: nisfirst.exe not found.

Isn't there a clean and easy way to uninstall and install this app?!

My System

Welcome to TSF.

It could be that the firewall has the settings still saved somewhere and it's blocking network access. Try installing it back again and remove ALL access permissions (if there is a way to do it - I'm sure there is). Then uninstall it.

It is a big pain in the you know what when it comes to Norton. Go to their site for the removal tool. That should ease things a little.

It turns out there was an IAM key in the registry that had to be deleted after the uninstall.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Good to know. Norton is sometimes a bit of pain to install, I must have to use the deinstall tools once or twice a month.
