2k and dual video cards?
I was given another video card the same as the one I'm using, so I decided to run it in SLI.
On my system I'm running 2kpro, XP, and SUSE 10.3, XP and linux work fine, but 2k won't even make it to the boot screen. I first booted to XP, and had no trouble, SUSE login screen flashed a couple times then worked perfectly, so I'm certain the cards are working as planned Wondering if there is something I need to set up in 2k before installing the new card? or is it just a 2k thing? Sounds silly to run 2K and XP on the same system, but I prefer 2K for work as it just does things the way I want it to, Something XP doesn't. Sure it's not a hardware issue, as it runs perfectly in XP and linux, but here are the specs: system is an asus m2n4-sli board (new one coming soon) AM2 5000+ (possibly changing with new board) 3G ram 650w true-power supply 2x nvidia 7900 in SLI Thanks in advance Ken. |

Re: 2k and dual video cards?
Sorry, should have mentioned that in specs, but yes it does.
everything else worked fine, just installed card and booted up, I've read that 2k doesn't support SLI, but that it does work well with dual cards. Can't figure why it doesn't even boot. I plan on reinstalling 2k, and see if it works with a fresh install. Thanks Ken. |

Re: 2k and dual video cards?
Hitech,
Tried safe mode, got the windows is starting bar, waited a few minutes and was ready to shut it down again when I got called upstairs, was upstairs a couple more minutes and heard it beep. came back down and it was entering safe mode. Disabled one card and it's working fine and booting as fast as ever. was getting nervous there, thought I might have to move to XP! Thanks a lot, appreciate the help. Ken. Edit in 2k now. |
