Newbie with two questions.
I bought two computers at a school auction that have Windows 2000 Pro on them. I am not familiar with this OS. Can I use just one computer or do these have to be on a network? I do not know the user name or the password but do know the name of the server they were on. I have searched the net and tried 3 different discs and am still unable to get past the login screen. Anybody have any tips?
Thanks. |

Re: Newbie with two questions.
opening screen? Do you mena the win2k log on, or a bios boot screen?
If the bios screen, reset your cmos, you'll have to track down the motherboard maker for more accurate instructions, But most have jumpers near the cmos battery, for others you have to remove the battery or short a pair of contacts. Once it's cleared reinstall the battery/reset jumper and it should boot without a password being required. If it's a win2k password, many programs are available to change it using a different boot drive, you'd need to search. I'd say there are many that were written for legitimate reasons, others though were intended to compramise security, so excersize care when downloading them, as the people who do so may have ulterior motives for distributing the software. ken. |
