Re: internet explorer errors

IE7 will not work on Windows 2000, so that solves one problem.

Did IE6 ever work right on your machine? If it did, you may have installed an update that is causing the problem. You might be able to go into the control panel and run the add/remove programs applet and uninstall updates that mention Internet Explorer. Since you say you can't get the control panel to work, paste this into the Start button Run command line

rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL appwiz.cpl,,0

Re: internet explorer errors

The regcure program what results did it give you when you ran the program. Most of those registry "FIX" programs can cause more problems than anything.

Try uninstalling IE6 and all associated Updates.

After that is complete reinstall IE apply all security patches from M$.

If you cannot remove the program via Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs you could try this M$ Install Cleanup Utility

Re: internet explorer errors

to get your Add/remove programs, add ie tab to firefox...and download the below since the add remove programs in 2k is really just HTML...

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

How to add IE tab to Firefox...
Open it up....Click on tools...click addons..another window will appear. Go to extensions (not plugins) and click get extensions..Once at the home page of FF type in IE tab in the search bar. It will pop up now just click install...re-start FF and go to the above link..and download it and run it..
All should be well.

If that does not do it, If you still have your disc...You can go to command and type in chkdsk /r and it ask if you want to do it next time you reboot, this will replace any bad files in the i38 folder and windows folder..

Re: internet explorer errors

Can't help you with the XP if you do not have the Authentication Key. You will need the Windows 2K disks to repair the OS.
