Paging file error

I have a computer in the office here running win 2K pro. I installed another(additional) hard drive as a slave into this machine for storage. The computer booted almost all the way up then drive mapping errors. So after changing the drive letters to further down the list to allow for the new hard drive. It said everything was updated and wanted to reboot (don't know why, I've never had that message prior). It got to the preparing network connections and I received an error thus

"your system has no paging file, or the paging file is too small". It then also says to change the size of the file.

Ok, no problem, other than the computer will not boot any further. It just loops to this message.

I've found this from Microsoft and it describes the problem perfectly.

The only problem is in step #5 you are supposed to copy over the "system" file from the repair directory. IT AIN'T THERE I've looked on several other win2K machines here and the same.

any ideas?
thanks
Mike

Re: Paging file error

I've been having a similar problem and for similar reasons.

After a clone backup, the problem appeared when using the disk to book (making sure that my backup was working correctly.) I believe I set it as an 'only' for this test.

I am recloning the drive from a good on which I have run the chkdsk c: /F/V/R/L from the run box.

But I want to recheck for the problem and /or rerun the chkdsk routine on the backup.

The instructions for page file state that you
go start > settings > administrator [something] and then refresh the page file or make the memory or cache bigger.

Who has the exact instruction?
