[solved] "No Paging File" error after backup
I reached for my backup disk when I could not find an error which may have resulting from using Registry cleaners (see warning above in stickys.)
But the clone job using Ghost which indicated a successful clone gave the following error when reinstalled as boot drive: ** Error: Limited Virtual Memory Your system has no paging file or paging file is too small. And the solutions are given in 3 steps. BUT, when clicking on the OK button to go do the procedure, the system still doesn't set up a desktop so you can get ot the procedure. Is it possible to do this from Safe Mode? Or what happens if one is stuck with this error? I am going to rerun the clone job to see if the same thing happens. Elsewise the backup would be useless. |

Re: "No Paging File" error after backup
Good Morning Ioninappleton!

I wonder though if you cloned to the right partition, and not to a smaller one which now has too little space to create, or maintain, your pagefile. Question: How was this ghost image created? From inside Windows 2000, or from outside it? |

Re: "No Paging File" error after backup
Well, I'd be really stuck if I needed Safe Mode because a loop formed which just went back to the same error.
When I redid the clone from floppy, it went through ok. I booted to the new clone as an 'only' and the whole bootup went through ok. Thanks for answering, i usually come back when I solve the problem but forgot. |

Restoring a clone from inside the operating system will never work because of important files being in use by the operating system! Would you please go over to the Thred Tools and mark this thread as "Solved"? Thanks for your cooperation! |
