Load Error! , WIN2000

I recently wiped out NT 4.0 and installed Windows 2000 onto my IBM A20M laptop.

Everything was fine for about a week but then yesterday when I tried to start the computer I got a black screen with the message "Load Error! Press any key to reboot..." When I press a key I get the same message, repeatedly. It won't let me start it in safe mode. Will only let me access F1 and F12.

I have re-installed Windows several times and it says that it was installed successfully, but after restarting it, I get the same "Load Error! Press any key to reboot..." message. I have tried to start it with a boot disk, run a virus check, run an IBM hard drive fitness test......same Error message.

I have tried everything I can think of so am looking here for some expert advice. I am no computer expert so be please be kind. Any help is greatly appreciated!
