Boot Problems
My old roommate gave me a call yesterday saying that his computer wouldn't load after he restarted it. Said he was updating Itunes and now it wont load and say something about missing files. The computer is an older Compaq presario with a 1gig Amd processor, 512mb ram and a 60gig hd, running 2000 Prof. I turned it on and it gets to the loading windows screen where the white bar runs across the hash marks at the bottom of the screen and freezes. A message pops up at the bottom and says that the file "\winnt\system32\config\system" is missing or corrupt and it cant start because of it. I ran the repair program off of the installation cd and used the emergency repair console with the emergency repair disk. Repaired a couple of files, but it still comes up with the same issue. How can i repair this file manually if the repair disk wont?
