unistalling or reinstalling win2k

I took the hard drive out of one pc (because it had a cooling problem) and put it in another pc. Due to this mix, many things did not work right. So, I installed Windows 2000. Now it reboots and says "NTLDR Not Found Press Any Key to Continue". Nothing resolves this. How do I reinstall Win98 or anything else that will work?

You have to create boot floppies. Theres a way to do that from the 2000
cd. Cant remember. But there is a web site for boot disks,
www.bootdisk.com good luck, do some googles about how to create a
boot disk for 2000, the info is there

Thanks for the help. I tried reinstalling the OS with a bootable version, but it still will not get around the NTLDR problem. It still gets stuck in that loop. And it will not let me replace the NTLDR from DOS (access denied). I will continue to look at other sites to try to find an answer.

Hard drives are not interchangeable across different chipsets. I imagine that the computer you originally installed your OS on has a different chipset than the new computer.

Now, you say that you have Installed 2000? Did you do a complete fdisk and install, or did you just install it along side the previous OS.

I would back up your data and do a complete reinstall of the OS. This includes formatting the entire drive and installing the new OS. You can also try a repair install of 2000, some say this can fix hardware problems.

Another questions, when you boot up, does it ask you to pick operating systems? Does it possibly have Windows2000 listed twice in this list?

Thanks for the response.

I think you are right about the pc's having different chip sets.

I did an fdisk and install. At boot it only lists one os image.

And you are still getting the NTLDR message?
